Classification – Each shooter must be classified by the TSTA Classification Committee. Your ATA card must be averaged and up to date. Shooters will be classified according to their known ability, which may exclude abnormally low scores. Five standard ATA classes will be used for singles and doubles, AA-A-B-C-D.

Shooters who do not have a total of 1,000 16-yard targets registered with the ATA in the current and previous two years shall be placed in Class B or higher at the discretion of the Committee.

Shooters who do not have a total of 500 doubles targets registered with the ATA in the current and previous two years shall be placed in Class B or higher at the discretion of the Committee.

Shooters who do not have a total of 1,000 handicap targets registered with the ATA in the current and previous two years shall be assigned penalty yardage of 23 yards or their handicap card yardage, whichever is greater. Penalty yardage for ladies, senior veterans, and sub-juniors who do not meet handicap target requirements will be 20 yards or their handicap card yardage, whichever is greater.

Special Categories – All ladies, juniors, sub-juniors, veterans and senior veterans must declare their special category at the time of their entry. Without such declaration at the time of their entry, the shooter will not be allowed to compete for the applicable special category trophy. No shooter will be allowed to declare a special category after the first shot is fired in the event by the contestant. No exceptions to this rule are allowed per ATA rules.

Yardage Groups (4) – 19-20, 21-23, 24-26 and 27 yards.
Early registration - Classification, squadding and cashiering services will be available at the clubhouse on Wednesday afternoon. Shooters may also squad in advance on PreSquad.com at no charge. Watch the PreSquad.com website for the opening dates for this service.

Daily fees are $2.00 ATA and $2.00 TSTA.

Re-Squadding – There will be a $10.00 re-squadding fee for shooters who miss their squad or who change squads after paying for entry. Re-squadding will be to the same trap(s) as the original squad.

Entry & Refunds – Refunds of entry fees, daily fees and options must be requested prior to the beginning of the event. Positively no refunds of any money will be made after the first squad in the event begins shooting, regardless of the time or day the event is to be completed. Shooters wishing to shoot for “targets only” will be charged the full entry fee stated for the event. All entry and options must be paid for in full at the time of entry. Juniors and sub-junior shooters will be charged the same entry fees as all other contestants.

Option and Added Money PayoffPayoffs will be available at a reasonable time after each event except Event 9. Payoffs for Event 9 will be made by check mailed after the shoot. No scores that affect payoffs will be changed after payoffs begin.

Trophies – No shooter may win more than one trophy per event. ATA rules will govern the awarding of ATA trophies. With respect to all other trophies, any shooter whose score might qualify him or her for more than one trophy must notify management of his/her preferences before winners are determined at the end of the event. Unless advised otherwise by the contestants involved, category awards will take precedence over class and yardage group awards. A shooter may not fall back from a class to a category trophy or vice versa if he/she is unsuccessful in the shoot-off. However, a shooter may shoot off for event champion or place trophies and fall back to a class or category trophy.

Class Move-ups – Shooters who win or tie for a state or open class trophy in a singles or doubles event will move up a class for the next similar event. This rule will also apply to any shooter with the high score in his/her class and who takes a category trophy.

Shootoffs and CarryoversTies in Events 1, 3, 4 and 6 will be carried over to the next similar event. Ties in Events 2 and 5 will be carried over unless yardage changes unequally, in which case ties will shoot off. Ties in all other events will be shot off after the last event of the day, time permitting. Shooters involved in ties have the responsibility to ascertain when and how their tie will be settled. Shooters not answering shootoff call will forfeit.

Attendance Pins and Other Awards – Each entrant will be awarded a Tennessee State Shoot attendance pin while supplies last. Shooters who break 100 or 200 straight from scratch will be awarded a special TSTA pin on the first occasion only.

Shells – One vendor to have the exclusive right to sell popular brands of shells on the grounds. All ammunition must conform to ATA rules and will be subject to inspection. Using illegal loads will result in disqualification and reporting to the ATA.

Empties – Empty shells on the ground are the property of the NGC/TCTC.

Traps & Targets12 PAT traps and White Flyer targets will be used for program events.

FoodLunch and snacks will be available on the grounds.

Business Meeting – The annual business meeting of members of the TSTA will be held in the clubhouse at 8:30 am Sunday morning, immediately following the Hall of Fame breakfast and induction ceremonies, and prior to the Doubles Championship. To be eligible to vote, all members must present their ATA paper average card for the current target year (NOT the plastic card) to provide proof of membership.

Enforcement of Rules – ATA rules will govern this shoot. Shooters who violate ATA or posted TCTC safety rules will be disqualified and will forfeit their right to trophies and money. Management reserves the right to refuse entry or eject any shooter or other person who interferes with the harmony of the shoot. Any person who consumes an alcoholic beverage in any quantity will not be permitted to shoot practice, event or shootoff targets the remainder of that day. In accordance with ATA and TCTC rules, eye and ear protection are mandatory for all shooters.

Camping and Water – Contact the club for campsite reservations.

Golf Carts – All cart drivers must have a valid driver’s license in their possession.

Changes – Management reserves the right to change or cancel any part of this program because of weather, power failure or other sufficient cause.

Trapshooting Hall of Fame

Contributor Award

Please see the Trapshooting Hall of Fame Purse in Event 7 – The Tennessee Singles Championship.

The $20 fee to enter this purse is a 50% tax deductible donation to the Hall of Fame. This donation provides support to the new museum and to the many worthy projects undertaken by the Hall of Fame. All donors will qualify for the 2009 Hall of Fame Award. Your entry receipt shows the contribution for your records. The Hall of Fame will retain 50% of the donation while the remainder will constitute the portion to be awarded. Monies will be paid out in three Lewis Classes, 60-40 high gun in each class.

The high score on the 200 targets in Event 7, among those who enter this purse, will receive a Shamrock Leathers specially crafted oak and leather wall clock suitably engraved. A tie will be resolved by reverse score by sub-event. If reverse score does not break the tie, management will draw the winner from among those tied.

2009 Tennessee All-State Team

The 2009 Tennessee All-State Team is based on the highest composite averages from the 2008 ATA target year. It is selected from TSTA members in good standing who meet the applicable minimum target requirements: Men: 2,000 singles, 1,500 handicap, 1,000 doubles; Categories: 1,000 singles, 1,000 handicap, 200 doubles. The number of awards in categories is based on the number of qualifiers. All-Americans automatically are named All-State.
