Ed Luyben, Kingston Springs

Born in 1897, Ed Luyben made his home in Kingston Springs with his wife, Alice. He began his shooting career in 1932. In 1937 he won his first state singles championship which he repeated in 1938, 1940 and 1953. He won the state doubles crown in 1936, 1938, 1939, 1940 and 1952 and captured five all-around titles between 1937 and 1952. As state singles runner-up in 1939, he represented Tennessee in the Champion of Champions event at the Grand American, after his Mend John H. Noel (a previous Tennessee Hall of Fame inductee) became ifl and was unable to attend.

Mr. Luyben died in Kingston Springs in 1962.
